Easy Blocks - Judys Star Quilt Block
Learn how to cut and piece basic quilt blocks
From your dark fabric, cut: - two 4 7/8" squares, then cut in half to create half square triangles (see example below)
From your background fabric, cut: - one 5 1/2" square, then cut twice diagonally to make four quarter square triangles (see example below) - and four 4 1/2" squares for corners.
From your medium fabric, cut: - one 5 1/2" square,then cut twice diagonally to make four quarter square triangles (as in previous step) - and one 4 1/2" square for the centre of the block. Sew one background triangle to one medium color triangle as shown in the diagram at the top of this page. Repeat three times. Sew the two triangle unit to one large dark fabric triangle as shown in the diagram at the top of this page. Repeat three times. Lay your block out as shown above, and sew the top three units together to make row 1 - press seams away from middle. Sew the middle three units together to make row 2 - press seams toward middle.
